my very first "I Heart Faces" challenge!

I LOVE participating in online photography communities (that's no secret ;)  But I this will be my first time with "I Heart Faces."  I think the sheer volume and size of their following has kind of freaked me out in the past.  However, the theme is black and white... and I just happen to lovvvvve black and white.  I figured now is as good a time as any to hop on the IHF bandwagon.  Won't you join too?

ahhhh!  How cute is she???  And of course, (of COURSE) I'm just loving the clean looking, negative space.

I found this sweet blog through Ashley Sisk... and I am so excited to be linking up to the challenge for the  first time evvvverrrr :)

So the prompt for this challenge was "Favorite."  It is literally impossible for me to pick a fave photo.  As the mother of these 3 amazing, beautiful kids, every photo I take is a "fave" to me :)  So instead, I took the prompt and turned it into one of our "favorite" things to do:  go to the beach:)

This is a picture of my daughter... proudly wearing her red, sparkly Toms.  She was lying on a picnic table, lifting them up in the air, to watch them sparkle in the sun.  I wish I could've captured the sparkle better, but hopefully, you get the idea ;)

Fave Photo of 2011?!?!

What a daunting task to pick a fave photo from an entire year of pictures and memories! ;)  Especially for a gal that takes (on average) about 50-100 pictures a day... caaaaa-raaaazy!

But I narrowed it down to a picture, focusing on Stella.  Stella was the most incredible part of 2011.. therefore, it was only natural to pick a picture of her.

Soooooo... I came up with this one:

And because I'm feeling reminiscent, I'll give some background on the photo:

Stella was fresh out of the oven at this point- maybe 6-7 hours old.  We had had our slew of visitors, and all the excitement of her first bath, feeding, etc.  Ryan and I were left alone with our sweet miracle.  Ryan was holding her, and my camera happened to be within arms reach.  Even though the lights were soooo dim in the room and I had to crank up the ISO (which ultimately made this photo more noisy than I care for), I caught a few precious, sleeping moments of miss Estella June.  It's certainly not the most creative shot I've ever taken, or challenge, etc.  But to me, its pure beauty. 

I love you my StellaBella June bug!  You are the best thing of 2011!!!!  :D

The Glitter Diaries... (and PHOTO CHALLENGE!)

I happen to be addicted to glitter.  I love glitter like a kid loves candy.  I am determined to get that "perrrrrrfect" glitter shot.  I've caught a couple that are nice, but nothing that really gets me yet.  The glitter diaries shall continue... :)

Okay- follow me here... we live in FLORIDA.  It does not look "fall" here at ALL!  :( boo.  But this photo was taken on Halloween (even if it looks like summer out) and it is a literal take on the theme "fall."  This is Henry... fallllling on the moon bounce :)

"The Little Details"

I have finally fixed my CF reader :) yay!  I was getting nervous that I wouldn't be able to participate in Scavenger Hunt Sunday this week... no worries though, all is well :)

Chelsey, over at The Paper Mama  has a fun photo challenge going on... the theme is "red."  Now let me say that red is probably on the list of my least fave colors- especially when photographing people.  The second a kid puts a red shirt on, their entire face is a new shade of red... 

Maeve was given this adorable red coat from a friend of ours- it's red with little pink hearts all over it.  She absolutely adores it :)  It's her "heart" coat.  Anyways, she wore this coat pretty much 24/7 during the fall, and I did end up taking quite a few photos of her in it.   This particular photo came from Halloween day.  Halloween 2010, sticks out in my mind as one of the best days our family of four has had.   We spent the entire day as a our little family of 4, going to area Halloween festivities, cooking up Halloween treats and just enjoying the day together.  It was awesome :)  Maeve got her face painted like a butterfly... which I thinks goes GREAT with her lovely red coat... don't you agree? :)
